American Le Mans Series Names Three To New Staff Positions
The American Le Mans Series has named Kristine Groft, Joe Aiken and J.J. Foy to new positions on the staff of the professional sports car racing series.
Groft has been named Director of Promotions/Marketing Sales & Service and will be responsible for developing and implementing national as well as event/regional series promotion initiatives. In addition, she will develop promotions and marketing-related sales opportunities and will work closely with event promoters and team, sponsor and manufacturer public relations and marketing representatives and related personnel.
Groft comes to the American Le Mans Series from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey where she was Promotions/PR Coordinator. Prior to that, she was Marketing and Public Relations Director for Global Events Group in Portland, Ore., working on American Le Mans Series and CART events at Portland International Raceway, as well as other non motorsports events. She also worked as Marketing Coordinator for Portland's Entercom Radio Group.
A native of Lancaster, Groft is a graduate of Millersville University with a degree in Speech Communications and special studies in Broadcasting/Video Production and Public Relations. She started her marketing career in 1998 with Clear Channel Communications in Harrisburg, Pa., as a producer/director and account executive. She will assume her new duties December 15 and she and her husband, Joel, will live in Athens.
Aiken, who joined the American Le Mans Series staff in March as Webmaster, has been promoted to Director of Creative Services. Aiken will oversee the in-house design and creation of ALMS collateral and related projects as the series becomes more responsive to team and event promoter marketing needs. Aiken, who designed www.americanlemans.com, will also continue to oversee the series' Web activity. In addition, he will work to integrate technology with branding, marketing strategies and focused creative.
Aiken came to the ALMS staff from Novus Sententia, an Atlanta-based Internet strategy and development company, where he was Creative Director/Brand and Market Analyst for three years. Prior to that, he was Communications Director for the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) in Atlanta for five years. He also previously worked with two Atlanta-based advertising agencies. Aiken, who lives in Auburn is Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate of Millersville University.
Foy has been named to the position of Art Director in the Creative Services Department after joining the staff on a part time basis in early 2003. Foy earned a degree in Electronic Media with a minor in Visual Communication at Berry College, where he worked for two years as graphics editor and editorial cartoonist for the school newspaper. In addition, he was a producer/director for the campus TV station. He lives in Peachtree City.
