Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge Expands To Include SGS Class
Grand American Director of Marketing Greg Otte announced today that the Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge will expand in 2004 to include the GT and SGS classes of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series.
For the second-straight year, Acxiom Corporation is the title sponsor of the Grand Touring division of the Rolex Sports Car Series. The cornerstone of the sponsorship is the Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge, which offers more than $70,000 in awards.
The Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge will offer separate award programs for the GT and SGS classes in 2004 with cash prizes offered to fast qualifiers, class winners and a special bonus when the fast qualifier is also the class winner.
In the GT class, $1,000 will be offered to the fast qualifier and to the class winner. If the same car wins both awards, an additional bonus of $1,500 will be added. If the bonus is not earned at an event, that amount will be rolled over and added to the bonus for the next race.
In the SGS class, $750 will be offered to the fast qualifier and class winner, and an additional $1,000 will be added if the same car is both the fast qualifier and class winner. As in the GT class, if the bonus is not earned at an event, that amount will be rolled over to the SGS bonus for the next race.
As part of the Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge, all cars competing in the GT and SGS classes of the Rolex Sports Car Series are required to display Acxiom decals along the upper edge of their windshields.
"Acxiom is a strong supporter of Grand American racing," Otte said. "This is the second year of our relationship with Acxiom, and its continued commitment to this program and our competitors is exceptional."
