LG Motorsports Adds Chambers, Videtto To 2004 Speed GT Lineup
Texas-based LG Motorsports announced today that it added Kevin Chambers and rookie Keith Videtto to the team in its quest to capture the 2004 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship. LG Motorsports will field a three-car team that also includes LG Motorsports owner and three-time SCCA World Challenge Champion Lou Gigliotti.
“We are very fortunate to have two very talented new drivers coming to run with us this season,” Gigliotti said. “We are hoping for some impressive results based on their background.”
Both Chambers and Videtto ran a limited SPEED GT schedule in 2003. However, this season the entire LG Motorsports team plans to run a full SPEED GT campaign.
Chambers started four SPEED GT races (Infineon Raceway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta and Puerto Rico) in a moderately-prepared Corvette Z06 and finished a season-best 11th at Puerto Rico.
“I am looking forward to reaching some new goals and raising my driving skill to a much higher level in 2004,” Chambers said. “With a new Corvette that is built to the max of the rules, I expect to improve my record greatly.”
Chambers, a former college football standout, began racing in the Russell Racing Mazda Series at Mazda Raceway in 1990. The bulk of Chambers’ racing experience was in the American Iron series, where he finished third, fourth and seventh in the West Coast Championship point standings the past three seasons.
Driving a Corvette, Videtto competed in two SPEED GT races (Road Atlanta and Puerto Rico) and won the Sunoco Hard Charger of the Race award for his 12th place finish at Puerto Rico. Videtto is also a former college athlete turned racecar driver. He has three PCAA/Big West track and cross country titles to his credit and he brings that same winning mentality to the race track.
“Coming from college athletics gives me the right frame of mind and a winning attitude,” Videtto said. “I would like to be as successful in racing as in my college sports and joining forces with Lou Gigliotti and LG Motorsports should help with that goal.”
