Pruett turned a blistering 1.13.375 lap in the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates No. 01 Lexus Riley XI, shattering the Daytona Prototype track record by 3.6 seconds.<BR> <BR> "I figured a high 13 was very do able. So with a low 13, I was surprised. When we qualified in Daytona, I didn't expect to do as well as we did. I think a lot of it is you get to run by yourself. When you get out there by yourself, you get a lot of momentum," said Pruett.<BR> <BR> Pruett took his first pole of the season earlier this month at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he also set a new Daytona Prototype track record. The CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing team was fined $1,000 following technical inspection for downloading data from the No. 01 Lexus Daytona Prototype prior to the inspection, which is disallowed according to the Grand American Rulebook. However, the team maintained its pole position.<BR> <BR> Lexus swept the top three during qualifying for Saturday's 250-mile race, with Didier Theys putting the Doran-Lista Racing No. 27 Lexus Doran JE4 on the outside pole with a 1:14.159 lap, narrowly beating out Oswaldo Negri Jr. in the Michael Shank Racing No. 6 Lexus Doran, who clocked a 1:14.166 lap.<BR> <BR> Last year's pole-sitter and the previous track record holder, David Donohue, will start on the outside of row two in the Red Bull Brumos Racing No. 58 Porsche Fabcar, which recorded a 1:14.172 lap.<BR> <BR> Fourteen of the 18 Daytona Prototypes in the field for this weekend's Grand Prix of Miami recorded times quicker than Donohue's track record, due in part to the reconfiguration of the track to included banking on the oval portion, as well as the development of the Daytona Prototypes over the last year.<BR> <BR> Boris Said topped the GT class in the Prototype Technology Group No. 21 BMW M3. Said put together a 104.381 mph lap in 1:19.325, besting the GT track record set by Joao Barbosa in 2001 by 0.626 seconds.<BR> <BR> The Racer's Group No. 66 Porsche GT3 RS will start second in the GT class thanks to Ian James' 1:19.575 lap at 104.053 mph, while the class winners from the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Orbit Racing, will start third after Jay Policastro's 1:19.652 lap.<BR> <BR> David Murry recorded the quickest lap in the Super Grand Sport (SGS) class during qualifying, however his 1:21.961 lap at 101.024 mph was disqualified during technical inspection due to a technical infraction on the AASCO Motorsports No. 16 Porsche GT3 Cup. The team used an illegal wing during qualifying that must be replaced prior to the start of Saturday's Grand Prix of Miami.<BR> <BR> Greg Wilkins will lead the SGS class to the green flag in place of Murry. Wilkins turned a 1:23.378 lap in the Doncaster Racing No. 71 Porsche. Marc Bunting will start second in the class in the TPC Racing No. 38 Porsche.
