The American expression “flippin’ the bird” appears to refer to a single digit gesture. Apologies are offered to David Donohue if Kerry Morse somehow led him into trouble over such a gesture – which was aimed solely (understandably?) at John Brooks, whose photograph appeared on this site.
David reports that, “I could be turning left a lot next year. I have been testing with Team Rensi Motorsports in a Craftsman Truck. It’s pretty cool actually, especially when you run well. I’ve been in the top ten all the time so far, which normally wouldn’t float my boat…but I know when it’s right in the car for me, and it hasn’t been right just yet. I’ve got a lot to learn still. So to be in the top ten and know I still have some left over gives me a lot of confidence.”
Full sponsorship for the season hasn’t yet been sourced, so there are opportunities out there to support one of the genuinely good guys in the sport. It will be a shame to lose him to oval racing.
David has found what looks to be a very happy home. “The team is also running Randy Tolsma in a truck, and Chad Chaffin and Kenny Wallace in Busch. They’re a really good bunch of people. It’s a shame to leave Sports Car racing, and I’d still like to do some of the longer races if the schedules don’t conflict and the team is right. But frankly, it gets old looking for a job from scratch every year. It is a tough environment. You can win a championship and be out of work the next year.”
“The NASCAR guys work really hard, just look at their schedule, but if you can make it there for the first couple of years, you have a better shot at having some stability in your life.” Good luck in the next episode of your racing adventures, David. And at Adelaide.
