Ferrari Party In The Sand
A dominant display from the Shell-powered Ferrari team on Sunday saw the two red cars finish the inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix in first and second positions. World Champion Michael Schumacher continued his perfect start to the season with another win to give him a maximum thirty points before the Championship comes to Europe in three weeks time. Behind him, team mate Rubens Barrichello finished second to give him his second podium of the year.
For Ferrari’s technical partner Shell, the race weekend was a double success as the Ferrari cars won on a surface developed by Shell Bitumen. Speaking on Friday afternoon after the first day of practice, Managing Director of Ferrari’s Racing Department, Jean Todt said: ‘We can say that the Ferrari showed good potential, thanks in part to the Bridgestone tyres which worked well on a track surface developed by Shell with similar characteristics to what we have at Fiorano.’
