Third Annual Daytona Prototype Constructors Meeting Set For Phoenix
Officials of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and principals from the seven designated Daytona Prototype race car constructors will meet for their annual spring meeting Wednesday in conjunction with this weekend's Food City 250 Rolex Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.
"The Daytona Prototype category has demonstrated incredible growth over the past year, and one of the reasons is the close working relationship we at Grand American have been fortunate enough to maintain with our constructor partners," Director of Competition Mark Raffauf said. The Daytona Prototypes have been the premier Rolex Series category for little over a year, but we have worked closely with these constructors for three seasons, including before the first race cars were even built. These constructors have been a key part of the Daytona Prototype era from the beginning and will continue to be part of our plans in the future."
The seven constructors authorized to build Daytona Prototypes include Chase Competition Engineering (Chase CCE-001), Crawford Race Cars (Crawford DP03), Doran Designs (Doran JE4), Fabcar Engineering Inc. (Fabcar FDSC/03 & /04), Multimatic Motorsports (Multimatic), Riley Technologies (Riley MKXI) and Picchio SpA (Picchio DP2). The race cars are powered by production-based engines from BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Lexus, Pontiac and Porsche. Goodyear is the exclusive tyre of the Daytona Prototype division.
In addition to a full slate of technical and competition agenda items, the closed meeting will include an address by Grand American Road Racing President Roger Edmondson and interaction with the racing organization's marketing, business development and communications managers. The meeting is only open to approved Daytona Prototype constructors and Grand American designated guests.
