BGB Motorsports No.38 Porsche Ready For Grand Am Cup At Phoenix
Team Toiled Around the Clock to Repair Badly Wounded Car
It is not without irony that the No.38 BGB Motorsports Porsche would rise like the fabled bird to compete in Grand American Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, Friday, April 9. Team drivers Guy Cosmo and Mark Plummer will once again pair up in hopes of regaining ground in their championship quest.
The car was nearly destroyed in an incident during Round 2 at Homestead on March 28. The Florida-based team had nine days to repair and prepare the car before loading for Phoenix. Team Manager Duane Neyer initially had his doubts that the car would be ready in time.
"It's very unfortunate we got caught up in somebody else's mistake," said Neyer. "Looking at it on Sunday at the track, I was somewhat suspect we would be able to fix it at all. It was on the frame machine by Monday afternoon. They did a fantastic job getting it back to us under a deadline. The car is actually better now, since we were able to do some upgrades. I think it sets a very positive tone for this race. It shows a commitment level of the team."
Guy Cosmo, who was at the helm when the incident at Homestead occurred, is equally optimistic.
"We're disappointed with what happened in Homestead," said Cosmo. "As we did at Daytona, we had a very competitive car and had a lot of enthusiasm for the race. We showed once again that we would be a very strong package. I think the Homestead incident is a testament to BGB Motorsports in that they completely rebuilt a very badly wounded racecar that's now ready to race."
