Huff Unlucky 13th At Silverstone
Robert Huff from Cambridge will start tomorrow’s seventh round of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone from 13th on the grid after changeable weather conditions on the wrong tyres cost him a possible second row slot. The 24 year-old SEAT Sport UK driver, who had been running in fourth place had planned to adopt the same tactics as his team-mate and eventual pole-sitter Jason Plato, but ran out of time as the 30 minute session came to a close.
“It all came down to tyres in the end,” said Rob. “We had slicks on the front and wets on the rear and the plan was to warm up the front ones and put them on the back and then put new slicks on the front. Jason managed to do this but we just ran out of time to do the change and do a flying lap so I just stayed out there. Thirteen - unlucky for some, lucky for others!”
The first of tomorrow’s 16-lap races, Round 7 will start at 11.30, and the result of that race will determine the grid positions for Round 8, with the top 10 starting in reverse order. With that in mind, it is entirely possible that Rob will opt to attempt to finish in tenth place in order to secure pole position for the second race, an option he hasn’t ruled out.
“For sure I have two options for the race, both dependent on my start and the weather conditions. If it’s dry I know I can get up with them, at Oulton last year I came from 8th to win. But if it’s wet, I might just settle for 10th to ensure pole for the second race.”
