Cadillac Qualifies On The Third Row For Lime Rock
Max Angelelli And Andy Pilgrim Set Fast Times In The Cadillac CTS-V Race Cars
The General Motors' Cadillac CTS-V racing team will start Monday's SCCA Speed World Challenge GT race from the third row of the grid. Cadillac driver Max Angelelli set the fifth fastest time in qualifying at Lime Rock Park with a lap of 54.589 seconds. Angelelli and fellow Cadillac driver Andy Pilgrim will start Monday's 50-minute race side-by-side on the 29-car grid; Pilgrim qualified his No.8 Cadillac CTS-V at 54.686, or sixth fastest overall. Both times shattered the previous Speed GT qualifying record at Lime Rock.
"The track was much faster than practice yesterday," said David Spitzer, program manager for the Cadillac CTS-V race car. "We are satisfied with our qualifying performance and are just hoping to survive the first few laps, which could be action-packed here at Lime Rock. Of course, anything can happen during Monday's race and tyre wear will be a factor."
Drivers Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim were happy with the performance of the Cadillacs during qualifying.
"My starting position for Monday is okay," said Angelelli. "I'm still learning this track as it is my first time here, and I love the last corner coming onto the front straight. The new competition adjustments have affected our car more than I expected but we're working hard this weekend so that we can still be competitive."
Angelelli's teammate, Andy Pilgrim, will start close by in sixth position for Monday's race.
"My Cadillac was great right from the start of the session," said Pilgrim. "I noticed we have a little less push, which allowed me to rotate the car quite well in the second section of Turn 1. We've got a few more setup issues to deal with but overall I think we're happy with our qualifying position today."
