During practice sessions on Friday, drivers Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim worked to achieve a balanced setup on the 1.53-mile road course during a day of heavy rain and clouds. The two-car factory program returns to competition after a remarkable 1-2 finish at Round 1 of the SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Championship at Sebring in March.<BR> <BR> “These conditions are difficult for any race car but we’re taking away some good data from practice today,” said David Spitzer, program manager for the Cadillac CTS-V race car. “With the new competition adjustments, our team has a significant challenge going into this weekend. This is a great team with great people and we’re working to find the best race setup for the weekend.”<BR> <BR> The first 25-minute session was characterized by heavy rain and standing water on the track, with most of the 29 World Challenge cars taking only a few laps before returning to their paddocks. No.8 Cadillac CTS-V driver Andy Pilgrim recorded six laps; No.16 Cadillac CTS-V driver Max Angelelli set the fifth fastest lap of the session on his first timed run but then slid off the outside of Turn 2 and was stuck in a patch of wet grass for the remainder of the session. <BR> <BR> “I made a mistake in the morning session and I was waiting to go back out in the afternoon,” said Angelelli. “In the second session the track conditions were better and we ran at a very hard pace. This is my first time at Lime Rock and I am very impressed with the track.”<BR> <BR> The Cadillacs experienced brief electrical problems at the start of the 25-minute afternoon session, eventually sorting through their issues and joining the field on the drying surface. Pilgrim set a fast time of 56.427 seconds while Max Angelelli posted a best time of 56.819 seconds in the No.16 Cadillac CTS-V. <BR> <BR> “I think our handling package suits Lime Rock,” said Pilgrim. “Although I experienced a little bit of push early on, I think that’s much better than having oversteer here; this track is all about momentum.
