Pescarolo C60 |
First Test |
|
David Legangneux has been following developments at Pescarolo Sport, and provides this report on the C60’s first test on December 11.
The weather was grey, cold, a little windy and often rainy in the morning and the track was always wet. At 9.30 am, the C60 wasn't quite ready, after a very busy week-end and short nights for the team. The full morning was needed to finish the car, after some problems with the gearbox operating lever. Yves Courage spent a part of the morning inside the Pescarolo Sport workshop and then all the afternoon inside the pits.
The C60 finally left the pits for the first time at 2.42 pm, for a single lap. Sébastien Bourdais was the driver and he will be for the two days. Then after, he completed some three to four laps stints, he put in a longer one around 4 pm.
Track conditions were far from ideal, Bourdais oversteering out of the corners and suffering from insufficient downforce. But the goal of this day was really to make the first shakedown.
The new transverse gearbox is shorter than last year's one and a lot of parts around last year's engine are now located further forward in the new car, compared to the C60. It's better for the mass centering and for the air flow inside the engine bay. The engine compartment looks much clearer than in the C52.
Also using the circuit were Philippe Gache (with his team SMG for testing with a Porsche GT-3 Cup), Jean-Christophe Bouillon and Vanina Ickx.
