Le Mans- Nine Hours Into The Race
Nine hours into the race, Team ADT Champion Racing has found themselves back in the top ten of the remaining 42-car field. In fact, the No.2 Audi R8 is currently in 5th position, just three laps behind the Dallara/Judd of RollCenter Racing and only four laps behind the Pescarolo/Judd of Pescarolo Sport.
JJ Lehto currently pilots the powerful 550 hp, V8, twin-turbo Audi. In fact, in his second stint in the car-in the dark-Lehto posted the fastest time of this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, 3:36.060. Incredible when you remember that the car was in a major accident, was in the pit for 31 minutes, and was almost completely rebuilt.
Quotes:
Marco Werner (Germany):
"Congratulations to the team. They did a very good job after the big accident. But the car was very nice to drive and more importantly, the tyres are working very, very well. I could drive four stints. I am happy to be back in the top ten and now we go step by step we go forward."
Emanuele Pirro (Italy):
"The car was really good. In a way it's nice. In way it's also bitter for me. Without the accident we would have been really, really good. But the race is still very long and we are running very good lap times. The race is very, very long and we said we would not give up and we are not going to give up at all. If everything goes as it should we should go up to third."
Rod Bymaster, Motorsports Manager, Audi of America:
"The ADT Champion R8 got off to an unfortunate incident early in the race which dropped them back to 41st position. The team has done a magnificent job coming back to 5th with 14 hours still remaining. With a little good fortune, hopefully we can get back up to the top three."
