Ryan Lewis Eighth Scholarship Pole |
13th Overall At Donington |
|
Ryan Lewis took his eighth pole position of the season in qualifying for Round 14 of the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship at Donington Park today but more impressively posted the 13th quickest time overall to get in amongst the championship cars.
The 20 year-old from Royston, Hertfordshire comfortably leads the championship after 12 rounds, and following an impressive performance in today's wet session, has vowed to go for a strong overall finish as well as another double victory.
I'm really happy with how today went, said Ryan. It was pretty wet out there and there was a lot of standing water, but I just got my head down and went for it. I knew what I had to do today and I did it. I think I could have gone even quicker, looking at the data after the session, if I'd hooked up all my fastest sector times in one lap, I could have been around 3/10ths quicker.
Ryan will also line up second for the first of the weekend's races, which takes place at 18.45 this evening, with tomorrow's race scheduled to start at 17.55.
