SCCA SPEED GT point leader Max Angelelli was second quickest, while team-mate Andy Pilgrim was third.<BR> <BR> After raining for most of the morning practice session, the SPEED GT field took to the track for the afternoon session under cloudy and cool, but dry conditions. Early in the session, Culver only needed a few laps to turn the fastest lap of the day with a 1:28.323 (92.035 mph). It was good that Culver set his fast time when he did, because shortly thereafter, he blew a power steering line forcing him to end his session prematurely. <BR> <BR> “This session we went out and tried to do a mock qualifier,” Culver said of his quick practice time. “We went out and really did just one fast lap. I was on a second hot lap and blew a power steering line, so I brought the car in and we parked it. The car was really behaving well.”<BR> <BR> Culver’s practice time is below the existing qualifying and race lap track records. The qualifying lap record (1:34.373, 86.134 mph) was set by local resident Michael Galati in an Audi S4, while the race lap record (1:34.628, 85.902 mph) was set by Randy Pobst. Both records were set in 2002 on street tyres. Twenty-five of the 32 drivers who posted practice times today were below the existing track records.<BR> <BR> Driving the No. 16 Cadillac/Mobil 1/Motorola/Bose/Onstar Cadillac CTS-V, Angelelli turned the second fastest lap of the day with a 1:29.162, while Pilgrim set a fast lap of 1:29.482 in his No. 8 machine.<BR> <BR> Rookie Mike McCann was fourth quickest in his Dodge Viper.
