Grand-Am Cup Points Leaders Stay On Top After The Glen 250 Stanton, Turner and Salama Continue to Lead
Craig Stanton has won more races than anyone in Grand-Am Cup Series competition this year and he now has the biggest driver points lead in Grand American-sanctioned competition to show for it. Stanton won his fourth race in five starts in the No. 44 TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche this past weekend in the Glen 250 and has built a huge 32-point lead in the GS driver standings.
Former teammate Terry Borcheller, who co-drove with Stanton in the No. 44 to his first three wins this year, is second in the GS standings with 134 points. Borcheller now drives the No. 11 Powell Motorsport Cadillac CTS-V and finished fifth at the Glen with co-driver Devon Powell.
Stanton's TheRaceSite.com Racing teammates Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker, drivers of the No. 43 Porsche, are tied in third with 133 points, while Bobby Julien in the No. 91 Doncaster Racing Porsche rounds out the top five (122 points).
TheRaceSite.com Racing teams hold the top two spots in team standings with the No. 44 first at 166 points, followed by the No. 43 with 133 tallies in second. Doncaster Racing is third with 122 points.
Porsche continues to dominate in the manufacturer standings with 172 points.
Nissan follows in second with 138 points, while Ford is third with 110 markers.
In the ST category, No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i drivers Will Turner and Don Salama finished fourth in The Glen 250, but continue to lead the driver standings with 152 points. Chuck Goldsborough and Ian James, co-drivers of the No. 2 Lexus IS300, follow in third with 134 points. No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i driver Tim Pappas, who was victorious in last weekend's race, is two points back in fifth (132 points).
The team championship standings mirror the driver standings with the No. 95 Turner Motorsport team leading with 152 points. The No. 2 Team Lexus is second at 134 points and the No. 97 Turner Motorsport team third with 132 points.
BMW leads in the ST class manufacturer point standings with 166 markers, 15 points ahead of Acura (151 points). Lexus is third with 149 points.
