John Heinricy set Cadillac's fastest lap at 1:28.361, placing him on the second row of the grid for Sunday morning's race. <BR> <BR> "We're very happy with the qualifying performance from John Heinricy and I'm proud of the effort from our entire team," said David Spitzer, program manager for the Cadillac CTS-V race car. "In many ways this result is what we expected, especially seeing how our cars reacted to the new rules at Lime Rock. We have faith that the SCCA will evaluate the data and make corrections for all the cars on the grid for remainder of the season."<BR> <BR> 34 cars started the 20-minute qualifying session and the deep grid caused a bit of a traffic jam getting out of pit lane. The Cadillac’s ran into traffic from slower cars, but eventually found space to set their qualifying laps. With new competition adjustments from the SCCA, the Cadillac’s have faced a 50% restriction on air flow intake, 200-lbs. addition to their base weight as well as a significant restriction in engine speed. Still, the hard working engineers and team managers at Team Cadillac have managed to wring the best possible performance package out of the three CTS-V race cars. <BR> <BR> Driver/engineer John Heinricy set the fastest time for the Cadillac team. <BR> <BR> "The car performed well in qualifying today," said Heinricy. "I had a little bit of a push and we were not exactly perfect, but the handling and power were good. I'm proud of the whole team that helped pull this together. This is a great opportunity to drive with a team of this calibre and it's an opportunity I don't take lightly."<BR> <BR> Heinricy spoke briefly about his strategy for starting on the outside row of the grid for Sunday's start. Heinricy has spent time practicing a standing start in the Cadillac prior to this weekend's race.<BR> <BR> "Starting on the outside isn't the best possible position," said Heinricy. "But, if I get a decent start, I believe I can get in there in fourth position and maintain that spot for the race." <BR> <BR> Driver Max Angelelli, points leader in the series, qualified his car ninth.<BR> <BR> "I pushed hard and my lap was the maximum that I could do," said Angelelli. "I think our car is quite heavy so we have a lot of work to do to make it competitive. My hope is for a top-ten finish."<BR> <BR> No.8 CTS-V driver Andy Pilgrim commented on how the new competition adjustments have affected his driving style.<BR> <BR> "The crew is working hard for us and we're doing the best we can with the new adjustments to our cars," said Pilgrim. "The CTS-V is inherently a great car, but the new rules package has affected our acceleration coming out of the corners. We knew in coming to this circuit that the competition adjustments that we'd feel the effects more than at Lime Rock.
