The setting for the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland is as unique as the timing of the 23rd annual event. The 750 horse-powered Ford-Cosworth Champ Cars will take to the 2.106 mile temporary airport circuit at sunset on Saturday of the July 4th weekend, capturing the spirit of open-wheel racing in America.<BR> <BR> Tagliani, in the No. 8 Johnson Controls Lola, will make his fifth Champ Car start on the Cleveland circuit and is looking to improve on his best Cleveland finish of fifth in 2002. “I’m looking forward to the Cleveland race and especially the airport racetrack. It’s a great place to race and I’m confident we’ll do well there,” said Tagliani. “The Cleveland race is the start to many great summer races. It‘s important for us to do well and score many points to put us in good standing for the rest of the season.<BR> <BR> “The Rocketsports/Johnson Controls team has been working really hard and we’re working on our consistency. We need to capitalize on our strengths and make up for some lost ground in some weaker finishes earlier this season,” added Tagliani, who ranks eighth in the championship battle with 61 points. “I’m hoping for a quick car and good results. We’ll see on Saturday night in Cleveland!” Nelson Philippe, in the No. 17 LeasePlan Lola, makes his first Champ Car start on the unique Cleveland course, and explains why he looks forward to the drive. “The Cleveland track is a lot of fun. It’s spacious with high-speed corners and lots of growing momentum. The middle section of the track in particular, is non-stop action. The driver needs to be “right there” the whole way for this race.
