What was remarkable wasn’t that he finished so well, so quickly. Instead, the remarkable thing was that Murray’s racing budget is probably less than a quarter of the three cars ahead of him. <BR> <BR> Murray made his first Trans-Am start at Long Beach earlier this year, but was caught up in an early crash. Murray is part of the growing GT-1 Driver Development program in the Trans-Am Series. The program is designed to help further the career of the lesser-funded, mostly club-based GT-1 competitors. Murray proved Sunday that lack of experience and funding needn’t be a roadblock to success in the Trans-Am Series.<BR> <BR> “I love these type of cars,” said Murray, driver of the No. 01 Greenberg Cheese Dodge Viper. “This is excellent. <BR> <BR> “I had to come back after Long Beach,” added Murray, who with the top-five finish takes the lead in the GT-1 Championship. “I had to make amends. Qualifying sixth was great. To back it up with fourth is just great.<BR> <BR> Murray, as part of the program, was brought up to the podium and took part in post-race festivities. He was also brought the media centre after the race and participated in the press conference.<BR> <BR> “I feel deserving of having the accolades of this GT-1 champagne,” said Murray, who is competing this year in the same Viper Tommy Archer drove in 2001. “My fellow GT-1 competitors should see this as an opportunity.
