Joey Scarallo Scores Second Straight Top Five Finish At Infineon
Joey Scarallo, driver of the No. 06 ROH Wheels/Group A Autotrend/Toyo Tires Chevrolet Corvette, recorded his second consecutive top-five finish in today’s Trans-Am 100 at Infineon Raceway. Completing all 51 laps, Scarallo finished fifth. He is now seventh in points, just behind Boris Said. He is eight points away from championship leader Tommy Kendall.
Lap 41 was an exciting lap for Scarallo when he passed Jorge Diaz, Jr. in turns one and two. “I was losing the pedal and I was babying the car when Ross Murray, driver of the No. 01 Dodge Viper, made a move to pass Diaz, which allowed me the chance to do the same,” said Scarallo. “There was some serious side-by-side drag racing happening then.
“It was a tough race in many ways, I had to baby the brake pedal since the brakes were soft due to cracked rotors,” said Scarallo. “I babied the car all the way home.
“After chasing the car’s set up all weekend long, everything turned out pretty good. It was a good run for us,” said Scarallo.
