EMCO Gears To Sponsor Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic In August
In a news conference today at Daytona International Speedway site of this evening’s Paul Revere 250 presented by Brumos Porsche officials from EMCO Gears and Grand American Road Racing Association announced that EMCO Gears has signed-on to be the title sponsor of the Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic on August 6-8, 2004.
“We’re proud to be partnering with Grand American – and to be a part of the great history of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,” said Richard Wolfe Jr., chief operating officer of EMCO Gears. “This is the most competitive and fastest growing series in all of motorsports, and we feel it will only continue to grow.”
The Rolex Series event scheduled for Saturday, August 7 will now be known as the EMCO Gears Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic. EMCO Gears will also host a party for team owners, drivers and team managers at Mid-Ohio on Friday, August 6. EMCO Gears is headquartered in Chicago, and its racing division operates from Indianapolis.
“As the Mid-Ohio race is the only event on our 2004 schedule in the Midwest, it seems fitting that we have a Midwestern company as a sponsor,” said Grand American President Roger Edmondson. “EMCO Gears is a valued partner of Grand American, and we are delighted that EMCO has stepped forward to support the series through race sponsorship.”
EMCO Gears’ sponsorship of the Mid-Ohio race will be the first time that the company has assumed title sponsorship of a Grand American event. EMCO Gears has been involved with the Rolex Series since the inception of the Daytona Prototype category, and the company’s products are utilized by Daytona Prototype teams running Doran, Fabcar and Multimatic chassis with plans to serve Riley and Crawford chassis in the near future. EMCO Gears is an active supplier of transmissions for all forms of stock car racing and has also been involved with the Indy Racing League.
“It is only appropriate that Daytona International Speedway – the site of EMCO Gears’ many defining moments in motorsports, with successes in Rolex Series Daytona Prototype, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series is chosen for the announcement of the EMCO Gears Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic,” said Dan Cota, EMCO Gears director of racing sales. “This announcement further emphasizes EMCO Gears’ continued commitment to American auto racing.”
