The No. 23 Horizon Motorsports LLC machine in tonight’s field is using the Pontiac GTO body style and a General Motors LS6 Gen III fuel-injected V-8 engine built to this year’s engine rules. The car is being co-driven in the Paul Revere 250 by Charles Espenlaub and Dale Quarterley.<BR> <BR> “Much like the Daytona Prototype category has revolutionized prototype sports car racing through its ‘raceability,’ we are confident that Horizon’s new GT chassis is the beginning of a similar revolution,” said Grand American Road Racing Association President Roger Edmondson. “The No. 23 car looks great out on the race track, and I am excited about Horizon’s prospects for the future with this project.”<BR> <BR> In addition to the Paul Revere 250, Horizon Motorsports plans to campaign the GT car in the remaining rounds of the 2004 Rolex Sports Car Series. Horizon Motorsports LLC will sell the chassis to teams, who will then be allowed to run the car with the engine and bodywork of their choice.<BR> <BR> “I am delighted that we now have a Horizon Motorsports chassis competing on the race track in the Rolex Sports Car Series,” said Horizon Motorsports LLC team principal Jim Harrell. “The No. 23 Pontiac GTO that you see on the race track is the culmination of thousands of hours of hard work, and we will continue to refine and improve the car throughout the rest of 2004 and beyond.
