Rocketsports Champ Car Qualifying Report: Cleveland
Rocketsports driver, Alex Tagliani in the No.8 Johnson Controls Lola will make his best Cleveland start tomorrow in the 23rd annual Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland. Tagliani qualified fifth with a time of 58.156 and hopes to improve on his 2003 top-five finish in Cleveland.
“The No. 8 Johnson Controls Lola was running well today in qualifying. It was better on old tyres, but was inconsistent over the bumps on new tyres,” said Tagliani. “We need to work on the handling and grip of the car on new tyres and perhaps look at the shock combination we’re using. Overall the Rocketsports team is pleased with a top-five starting position for tomorrow’s race.”
Tagliani, who currently ranks eighth, is looking to looking to move ahead in the 2004 points battle with a positive finish in Round Five of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford.
Rocketsports teammate, Nelson Philippe in the No. 17 LeasePlan Lola heads into the Saturday evening race set in 16th position on the starting grid. Philippe has consistently improved on his lap times, and qualified with a time of 59.585. Look for Philippe to make his fifth Champ Car start and build on his streak of successful rookie finishes. The 17 year-old rookie ranks 16th in the championship battle with 32 points.
