Oscoda ProSolo Ends Extended Break
Nearly a month has passed since the last round of The Tire Rack® SCCA ProSolo National Series, but soloists have found plenty of ways to keep things interesting as they head into this weekend’s eighth-round event at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport in Oscoda.
Some competitors spent time competing in The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour events or regional Mazda Rev It UpTM competitions. Others simply are changing classes for an event. No matter the circumstances, however, the fact remains that there hasn’t been a ProSolo event for anyone since the middle of June, which means every one of the 139 listed entrants will be anxious to compete.
The husband-and-wife tandem of Paul Kozlak and Lynne Rothney-Kozlak occupied their time by competing in Solo Red Haus Racing 1997 Porsche 993, and are ready to continue their personal battle in A Stock this weekend. Paul won over Lynne two rounds ago before she returned the favour in Toledo last month.
Jason Saini, Steve Wynveen, and Bradley Lamont, the top three in B Stock last round are all entered and ready to go. Saini got his first win of the year last round and will lean on his over6racing.com 2001 Honda S2000 in trying to get his second victory. Wynveen is coming off a second-place finish at last weekend’s Solo Tour event in his Mercury Marine 2001 S2000, where Lamont earned his first-ever Tour win driving Wynveen’s car.
Bumps are likely for several classes this weekend as it appears they will struggle to reach the required five entries needed to make up a class. Among those is G Stock where Mark Chiles is entered in a Mini of Charleston/MINIUSA.com 2003 Mini Cooper S. If the class is indeed paired with H Stock, it shouldn’t affect Chiles. Of his five class victories this season, two have come as an H Stock entry.
Bob Tunnell is tied with Chiles for the overall, class-win lead with five of his own, and has entered his Bimmerhaus/Hoosier/H&R Springs 1995 BMW M3 in Street Modified, where he has three wins thus far.
