Eight SCCA Soloists in Mazda Rev It UpTM Finals
Thousands of drivers from across the United States tried to earn a trip to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey for the chance to win a brand new Mazda3 through the Mazda Rev It UpTM finals. Only 20 made it. And an incredible 40 percent of them are SCCA competitors, including last year’s winner Mark Daddio and second-place finisher Mike King.
Daddio won the Washington portion of the nationwide event and leads an impressive SCCA crew into the event’s last round, which is set for Labour Day weekend.
Including Daddio, four former SCCA Solo National Champions qualified to take a shot at winning the new Mazda3. Mazda Rev It UpTM, now in its second year, began with 15 cities hosting regional competitions over 15 weeks. The top driver from each site, along with five wild cards, earned an all-expense paid trip to California to compete in the final.
In the event that a single driver won in a previous competition, the second-place driver then became that event’s representative.
The list of SCCA Solo competitors who will be making the trip to Monterrey, how they got there and some current highlights for each:
