"We have great confidence in our engineering staff and our drivers, but a new environment will undoubtedly present a few surprises."<BR> <BR> Three races into the 2004 season, the new Cadillac team has claimed three podium finishes, including a 1-2 victory at Sebring in March. Cadillac holds the second position in the Manufacturers' championship while CTS-V driver Max Angelelli trails the lead in the drivers' title by only nine points. <BR> <BR> Andy Pilgrim, driver of the No.8 CTS-V race car, will be making a debut of sorts in the Cadillac at Infineon Raceway, although he's no stranger to the circuit. The American first won at Sonoma in 1986, a six-hour endurance event in which he co-drove with Bill Bailey in a Pontiac Firebird. <BR> <BR> "I love racing at Sonoma because it's a drivers' track," said Pilgrim. "There is a real premium on handling, and the Cadillac CTS-V is inherently a great car in the corners. The track favours a wise setup, as you have a couple of very fast corners and some slower, technical stuff. Turn 10 is one of my favourite corners in all of North America."<BR> <BR> Pilgrim returns to his No.8 Cadillac after a hard-fought race at Mid-Ohio just weeks ago, where he won the "Power Move of the Race" award after an excellent pass on a Saleen into Turn 8. The Cadillac driver said that Infineon Raceway's track characteristics do not lend well to overtaking.<BR> <BR> "Sonoma isn't a terribly easy place to pass," said Pilgrim. "There are some corners where you have to commit. It can be done, but in a series such as World Challenge where the cars have similar power and handling characteristics, it's not easy.
