SCC-CN-Euroseries |
New Junior Class |

Harald Gallinnis reports that at the annual award dinner of the SCC-CN-Euroseries in St.Anton / Austria on 9.December the new regulations for next year were presented to the public. As a major change, the introduction of a new junior class is planned for next year. The SCC2001 will give Junior pilots from 16 to 25 years the chance to get used to sports prototypes and provides an education programme towards the FIA-Sportscar Championship.
As a result of this change unfortunately closed prototypes like the Stealth GT-Prototype or Group C-cars will be banned next year.
Further in 2001 there will be only 2 divisions, but both with a sub-division. In Div.1 3 litre-CN, C3- & SR2-Prototypes will run together & there will be a sub-division for prototypes powered with the older but common 3 litre 12V Alfa engines. In Division 2, CNs with 2l engines will run together with the similar 1,8 litre Ford-powered junior-cars which run in their own sub-division.
In terms of drivers & teams some options will have to be cleared for next year. The overall-award winning team from PRC-Motorsports will give away the winning chassis from this year to ex-Formular 3000 driver Jonny Hauser, who must be considered as stongest new entrant to the series. Champion Emanuel Pedrazza will become development driver for the new PRC-SR-Lights car, that will target also the FIA SCC next year.
Vice Champion Marcel Steiner is weighing options between FIA-SCC, V8-S.T.A.R. (new German touring series) & a further season in the SCC 2001. German team Scuderia Munich will be running up to three Osellas for customers, plus the URD-WSC. A second WSC-chassis remains to be completed, but this is unlikely to be realized soon. URD is technical partner of AMG for the DTM and has therefore some more important commitments than to construct a WSC.
In the picture, both champions of Division 1&2 Emanuel Pedrazza (right) & Ralph Baumann (left) can be seen in the award winning Div.2-car. Next year both plan to defend their division titles.
