Fellows To Depart Early For NASCAR Nextel Cup Test Session
ALMS Champion Will Travel By Helicopter, Airplane And Automobile To Watkins Glen
Chevrolet Corvette factory driver Ron Fellows will depart today's American Le Mans Series race immediately after the chequered flag drops at 3:45 p.m. PDT. The Canadian road racing expert will board a helicopter for Portland International Airport, then travel via airplane to Watkins Glen for a NASCAR Nextel Cup test on Monday with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Fellows is set to drive the No.1 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Watkins Glen on August 15. To date Fellows has proven a worthy NASCAR competitor, with three NASCAR Busch Grand National wins and two NASCAR Craftsman Truck victories as well as stellar performances in NASCAR Nextel Cup.
"I'm looking forward to running with the DEI team again," said Fellows. "We have some unfinished business in Nextel Cup and I can't wait to get out there in the Chevy. We've just got to try to get ourselves in a position to win."
Five races into the 2004 season, Fellows and team mate Johnny O'Connell have won three races and currently lead the ALMS GTS drivers' championship by 33 points.
