Fellows Takes Pole Position For Cadillac At Mosport Canadian Sets New Track Record
The General Motors' Cadillac CTS-V racing team will start Sunday afternoon's race from the pole position after Ron Fellows set the fastest lap in Sunday morning qualifying for Round 7 of the Speed World Challenge GT Championship. Fellows' time of 1:22.409 sets a new track record on the 2.5-mile circuit. The Cadillacs qualified on the pole position on Saturday and took their sixth-straight top-four finish in yesterday's race.
"Fellows is the unofficial Mayor of Mosport so it's only fitting that he'd qualify the CTS-V on the pole for today's race," said Karen Rafferty, marketing manager for Cadillac V-Series and motorsports. "The team did a great job in giving him an excellent race car and he has certainly made a few new Cadillac fans out of the Mosport crowd. This should be a very exciting race."
Eleven points adrift of Audi in the Manufacturers' championship, all three Cadillac drivers are looking towards a podium finish. Ron Fellows set the fastest lap to the applause of his hometown fans. The Cadillac driver commented on the wise changes his engineers made to improve the car over Saturday.
"This was the best the car has felt all weekend," said Fellows, driver of the No.12 Cadillac CTS-V. "I didn't have any traffic and the track felt faster. The crew did a great job to change a few things yesterday in order to make the car faster through the corners and that seemed to work."
