This is Kendall’s first win since his return to competition and the first for the Jaguar Production based AJ-V8 engine. On the way to the win, Kendall set a new single lap record of 2:09.115 around the 4.048 mile permanent road course. Rocketsports teammate, Tomy Drissi, recovered from a 18th starting position and rallied to sixth. Rocketsports owner, Paul Gentilozzi, ran strong until a shredded tire forced him to pit and wound up 12th.<BR> <BR> The satisfaction of winning after returning to the series showed in Kendall’s trade mark smile. The No. 11 Jaguar R Performance XKR powered Kendall from his 13th place starting position to the lead with five laps remaining. “Tony Gentilozzi and the Rocketsports team gave me a fast cat today,” stated an excited Kendall. “The car was awesome under braking so I could pass in most corners and it was fun to drive.<BR> <BR> “This is the first win for the Jaguar AJ-V8 engine and a lot of thanks need to go to Jaguar for supporting the development program. I am glad I could give them their first win.”<BR> <BR> Saturday’s win marks Kendall’s 27th career Trans-Am series win, just two wins from tying the all-time win record of Mark Donohue. Kendall’s last win came August 31, 1997 at Mosports Park, three events before his retirement.<BR> <BR> “Jaguar North America is thrilled by today’s win,” said George Ayres, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar North America. “Tony Gentilozzi and his engine development team worked hard to put the Jaguar AJ-V8 at the top of the finishing grid. And, a solid race engine combined with the driving talents of four-time Trans-Am Champion, Tommy Kendall, is proving to be a winning combination.”<BR> <BR> Rocketsports owner, Gentilozzi, was pleased with the result of today’s event despite his 12th place finish. “We are proud to have Kendall back in victory lane,” Commented Gentilozzi. “To give Jaguar their first win with the 4-valve AJ-V8 shows that everything we’ve went through was worth it. Tony and the guys kept working at it and that hard work was rewarded today.”<BR> <BR> Driver of the No. 5 TAXI – The Movie Jaguar XKR recovered from mechanical issues in qualifying to capture his fourth top-10 of 2004. “The car was great today,” said Drissi. “But, my I have to tip my hat the Tommy.
