Gentilozzi secured his fourth championship by finishing fourth in the Grand Prix of Monterey. Kendall drove the No. 11 Jaguar R Performance XKR to victory and tied Gentilozzi in series points with 222 each. Gentilozzi won the tie breaker with five victories. <BR> <BR> Tomy Drissi, day ended early after the right front tire shredded and dropped him to a 13th place finish in the Elektra - The Movie Jaguar. Coming into the weekend, Gentilozzi had to finish fourth or better to secure his fourth drivers championship and the fifth for Rocketsports Racing. Gentilozzi’s previous championships were in 1998, 1999 and 2001. Former Trans-Am driver, Scott Pruett, won the series championship for Rocketsports in 2003. <BR> <BR> “Winning the championship this was not my intent,” said Gentilozzi. “The championship is bitter-sweet, I promised Kendall the championship this year but circumstances forced me to race more than I planned.” Just three weeks after securing Jaguars fourth manufacturers championship, Kendall won the second race with the production based Jaguar AJ-V8 four-valve, fuel-injected engine developed by Rocketsports. “The power that the AJ-V8 delivers is amazing,” describes Kendall. “Tony and the engine development guys have done a great job working with the Jaguar block and heads to create a piece of art. The championship standings have Rocketsports finishing first, second and fourth. Kendall polished off the season with two wins, six poles and five podiums.<BR> <BR> “I’m sorry to see the season end,” remarked Kendall. “I’ve had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. The crew did a great of job giving me excellent equipment and Tony (Gentilozzi), he’s done a hell of a job developing the AJ-V8 engines. Jaguar should be really pleased.” Winning his first pole in Portland and three podium finishes, Drissi completed his most competitive year ever. His fourth place finish in series standing gives him his highest ranking to date. “There are only two ways I could be happier today,” describes Drissi. “Winning, or finishing in the top three in points. Shawn (Robb) and H.B. (Fuller) gave me the best cars that I’ve ever had and I have grown as a driver.
