TRANS-AM Points Leader Ruhlman Ready To Return To Denver
Randy Ruhlman is looking to extend his points lead in the Driver's Championship at this weekend's Round Seven of the 2005 Trans-Am Series, the Cytomax 100 at the Denver Grand Prix. Ruhlman, who is the only multiple winner so far this year on the Trans-Am circuit, is also the only driver to have competed in all five Denver Grand Prix races. He ran in the inaugural Denver Grand Prix in 1990 as a Trans-Am rookie, and finished fifth last year, after spinning early and charging back through the field.
Ruhlman currently holds the points lead in the 2005 Driver's Championship after the first six rounds of racing with 157 points. As the driver of the Preformed Line Products Corvette, Ruhlman holds a thirteen-point margin over the Jaguar of Klaus Graf and an eighteen-point lead over Jaguar driver Greg Pickett. Ruhlman has placed in the top five in twelve of his last thirteen Trans-Am races, scoring victories at the prestigious Long Beach Grand Prix and a come from the back win at the Cleveland Grand Prix.
"We have been running fast and qualifying well all year, and if we can just stay away from any mishaps and being taken out by other competitors, our results should improve dramatically. This is a great track, I know we have the speed here too. There are a couple of passing places but it's going to be a challenge," says Ruhlman.
