Paddock sources are suggesting that PTG's V8-powered M3s may not be ready to race until after Sebring. Despite having V8s ready for Bell Motorsports at Daytona, it looks as though PTG themselves will have to wait until something like April to race theirs. Daytona should be a good test of the 2001 cars though.
It hasn’t been confirmed, but it seems almost certain that JJ Lehto and Jorg Muller will pilot a Schnitzer M3 V8 in 2001, but no names have yet become apparent for a second car. Porsche’s GT3RS is going to need to be right to take on a fleet of PTG and Schnitzer BMWs.
PTG seem like a better long term bet to stay in sportscar racing, with Schnitzer possibly having other plans for the M3s in 2002.
