Villaconn Motorsports ran a single BMW Z3 Coupe in 2000, but their operation will grow into a three car team for 2001.
The line-up will include team owners Al Villamil (fourth in 2000 points) and Matt Connolly (fifth in 2000 points) in one car, Jeff Trask (third in 2000 points) and Bransen Patch in the second, and Gregory White and Ray Shaffer in the third.
BMW won the Manufacturers Championship in the Sport Touring Category in the season just completed, and a tripling of Villaconn’s efforts makes further success look likely.
"Al has done a great job getting the drivers to place ego and personal gain aside and put the team first," comments team driver, Jeff Trask. "We are all in a support role and here for each other - and it's just great to be a part of that."
Villaconn are supporting a marvellous initiative, the Inner City Youth Racing (ICY) program. This takes inner city children and gives them an opportunity to become members of a professional race team. The goal is to give them a chance to learn about teamwork, preparation and the discipline required to win.
