David Warnock and Richard Dean were relaxed and happy on Sunday morning - signing autographs, chatting with fans. Richard had to force a poster on one young fan though! His dad seemed keen that the young man had it to place on his bedroom wall. You never know, that little fellow might be a Lister sponsor in 30 years time.
Well, it was an uneventful weekend until the race started........and the Championship is now absolutely wide open. What did Melindi Scott want to do to Andy Purvis?
David Warnock received a written Championship warning as to his future conduct, while Andy Purvis had his licence endorsed and received a £100 fine. Now presumably the pair of them have got to pay for the damage to their cars.
It was such a contrast then that the same part of the pit-lane became the scene for a squabbling match between Andy Purvis and the usually so calm Warnock. Andy's first mistake was to hit the Lister at Sear. His second was to approach the Lister driver as he got out of his car after six smokey laps, the rear badly damaged. Warnock allegedly flew at Purvis, the two having to be separated. Memories of James Hunt when he got out of the car in an aggrieved state of mind. Marshals were usually the victims then. |
