Dominic Chappell, who is behind the Interactive Sportscar Championship, has pointed out that some of the opinions expressed in a recent article on this site are not wholly accurate.
There isn’t an issue over TV footage, ISC having bought the rights to use film from relevant libraries.
Although announcements about competing teams will not be made until eight weeks before the first race, eleven of the twelve two-car slots have apparently been agreed already, and there are four teams vying for the last place.
Indications are that some of the probable entries are not from regular GT teams, so the ISC is likely to run in addition to existing GT Championships, and therefore isn’t a threat to numbers in other championships. The ISC does use the term ‘Sportscar’ in its name, which in this sense suggests a wider spread of cars than the ‘GT’ term would indicate. For example, ex-DTM cars are likely to play a significant role in this new Championship.
TotalMotorSport anticipates creating a dedicated area of the site nearer the start of the season, once firm news becomes regularly available.
