At Least One Viper in Rolex 24 |

After their third in class (behind the two Oreca Vipers) at Adelaide, Chamberlain Motorsport have confirmed “one, possibly two Vipers” for the Rolex 24. The Adelaide car is on its way to Florida, while a second car is already in the US after Chamberlain’s late 2000 efforts with this chassis.
The Rolex 24 last year saw them finish fifth and sixth in class, sixth and seventh overall. Bear in mind that they were only beaten by the factory cars from GM and Oreca in GTO (now GTS) and suddenly there’s the prospect of even better in the 39th running of the event (no Oreca, although Doug Fehan at GM seems reluctant to admit that yet).
With a Viper winning overall last year, it was odd to see no Vipers at the Test Days. In Chamberlain’s case, this was merely a factor of Adelaide taking place a few days before. Chamberlain are still in negotiations for seats in the cars. They ought to be very popular.
