The Prize Fund - And TV |
|
|
The second day of the Autosport Show, and at last some real sportscar news of substance.
John MacDonald announced that the prize fund for each of the ELMS races will be 150 000 Euros, with additional start money of 5 000 Euros per car. In round figures, this equates to £100 000 and £3 000.
"We've had something like 143 teams contact us," said MacDonald. Scott Atherton added that, "We needed to announce our package before we could expect the teams to make a commitment to us. But with the prize fund and TV package, everyone will understand that we are playing for keeps."
Bill Donaldson provided the TV news. "SKY Sports will broadcast all five ELMS races. The ALMS events will be shown in a slightly different format (from last year). We'll have one hour highlights shows a week after each event. That includes Malaysia and Adeliade at the end of the year."
So there we are. The important news that the teams were waiting for is out. That prize fund seems awfully appealing.
The ELMS can be contacted on +44 (0) 1869 353720. Teams interested in competing on the series are asked to fill out and fax in a registration form that is available online at www.americanlemans.com. Interested parties should click on the ELMS logo that appears on the home page of the website.
