You never know with Rob Schirle. One minute he’s planning two Rolex entries, then all of a sudden it’s a potential three.
“We’ve agreed to buy Dick Barbour’s #51 car, chassis #692088. Dick will be providing some support at Daytona, and suddenly we’ve got a huge interest in drives in the car.”
Schirle currently has Hubert Haupt, Vic Rice, Anthony Kumpen, Claudia Hurtgen, Jurgen Lorenz, Christian D’Agostin, David Warnock and Andre Ahrle lined up to drive his team’s two 911 GT3Rs and the 911 GT2 (1999 winner). “We’re going all out now to start the year with a good result. We recognise where the strongest challenges are going to come from, but we think a tried and tested 2000 cars is the way to go.”
The Cirtek entries will appear in their traditional silver, but with a blue front end.
Chassis #692088 scored five wins in 2000, at Charlotte, Silverstone, Portland, PLM (above) and Las Vegas.
