Mike Hezemans was testing the Carsport Holland Viper with the Bleekemolen family last week - Michael, Sebastiaan and Jeroen.
More testing of the (unnamed) sequential gearbox was carried out, together with familiarising the Bleekemolens with the GTS-R. Jeroen adapted to the car very quickly, despite very cold weather and some snow. Their next test will be on the 21 / 22 February in Valencia. Correction: it's an FIA test on 20 / 21 February.
Team Carsport Holland still hasn’t got a definitive driver line-up but it’s clear that Dutch drivers are preferred. Mike Hezemans believes that Jeroen Bleekemolen would make a good team-mate, especially because of his experience on most of the tracks where the FIA GT championship will take place. It is believed that the team will enter two Vipers in 2001, as per FIA ‘guidelines’.
Micheal Bleekemolen had an unusual career in the seventies, jumping from F3 to F1, then back to F3. He was never short of pace, and it seems that his son Jeroen (pictured) is another quick Dutchman.
PS.Michael Bleekemolen DNQ’d in Holland, Italy and Canada in 1978, but started from the back of the grid (in an ATS) at Watkins Glen, where he retired after 43 laps. His team-mate was one Keke Rosberg, the race was won by Carlos Reutemann, Arturo Merzario was next to him on the grid, which also contained Mario Andretti (Panoz driver, 2000), Jean-Pierre Jarier (FFSA / FIA GT) and Hans Stuck (PTG BMW). Beppe Gabbiani (SRWC Conrero R&S) did not qualify. Bob Wollek and Jurgen Barth were second at Le Mans, Hurley Haywood and Reinhold Joest were third and Dick Barbour was fifth.
