Tom Volk’s Racer Parts Wholesale company is incorporating its sponsorship of the #95 TRV R&S to help raise funds for Racing For Kids. The foundation has spearheaded visits by celebrity race car drivers to over 11,000 children in over 150 hospitals in the United States, Canada and Australia since 1990, and it has also raised over $1.8 million for various children's hospitals in the last 10 years.
Fans are asked to choose a monetary figure which will be multiplied by the number of hours the car runs in the race to determine their donation to Racing for Kids. They can do this through Racer Parts Wholesale's website [url/http://www.racerpartswholesale.com">link or their toll-free ordering number, 1-800-397-7815. Fans who would like to have a pledge form faxed to them may also request that through the toll-free number. Forms will also be available in the garage area at Daytona. They’re good guys – get along and see them if you can.
The fund-raising is being led by Barry Waddell, who partners Tom Volk, Jeret Schroeder and John Mirro in the TRV entry. Waddell, who has two podium finishes in the Rolex 24 and has been a Racing for Kids representative for over five years, will also visit children at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Wednesday morning, Jan. 31 on behalf of Racing for Kids. In addition to chatting with the children, he'll present them with autographed cards and hats and show them his helmet and other safety gear.
”I hope everyone will get behind this, because it will make the race more fun and it is a great way to help a very worthwhile organization,” Waddell said. “I want to thank Tom Volk, everyone at TRV Motorsport and especially the staff of Racer Parts Wholesale for being so supportive.”
”Jeret, Tom, John and I will try our best to stay out of trouble and finish all 24 hours!"
When making pledges, fans will also be asked to predict where the car will qualify overall for the race and where it will finish in class in the event. These predictions will be used for give-aways of free merchandise as an extra incentive to participate.
TotalMotorSport will be making an extra effort to cover the cars with charitable connections. Event coverage should begin on Wednesday Jan 31, with ‘live’ reporting throughout the race.
