Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson announced today that The X-1R Corporation has become the title sponsor of the Grand-Am series pole-winner award. The X-1R Performance Lubricant 'Run With The Best' Pole Award will be presented to the top qualifiers in each class throughout the season, beginning tomorrow with the first qualifying of the season at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
"We at Grand-Am are thrilled to include X-1R as the title sponsor of the pole-winner award," Edmondson said. "The X-1R Performance Lubricant 'Run With The Best' Pole Award will be highly sought after by everyone who takes to the race track."
X-1R will also award a total of $25,000 throughout the season to the pole-position drivers in each class displaying the X-1R decal on their car. Award money not earned will be rolled over to the next Grand-Am race. X-1R also becomes the exclusive performance lubricant sponsor of the Grand-Am series.
X-1R is the only lubricant in the world that has ever been inducted into the NASA Space Technology Hall of Fame and is designated "Certified Space Technology." X-1R produces several lines of products that are used not only in space technology, but also in automotive, marine, sport, racing and industry practices.
Troy Flis, managing the X1-R backed AGT Camaro, was happy to confirm that his car will be going for his sponsors' pole. "We always go for pole. That's the way we go racing. We won six out of nine races last year."
