Marc Laffeas popped along to the end of the Mulsanne Straight and confirms that work hasn't yet started on flattening the hump. The work will be done during winter, but apparently the flattening will not be too drastic. It is expected not to exceed a 160 cm reduction in height.
Discussions between the ACO and the FIA have apparently resulted in no change as regards the roll hoops that will be allowed next year. The single hoop will continue, so 2001 designs that were created with the alternative full hoop in mind will not need to be changed. The following year could see the introduction of a mandatory full hoop at Le Mans.
Is an announcement due shortly as regards a major manufacturer entering Le Mans next year? Don Panoz mentioned a name during his press conference at the Petit Le Mans. Confirmation is expected next week. |
