Reg Hopkins is delighted to announce the return of the 4WD Quaife to the Privilege Championship. The car sat idle throughout 2000 as it was regarded as a ‘GT1’ car, but with production of the road car under way, it falls into the same group as other current GT(2) chassis, and has clearance from the BRDC to join the GT class this year.
“We’re very pleased to conclude 18 months of negotiation with Mike Quaife and the BRDC,” said Reg Hopkins. “This is Philip’s return (Philip Hopkins, Reg’s son) to GT racing after breaking his legs in the Ultima at Castle Combe. The Quaife should be very quick.”
It will continue to run as a 4WD chassis - conversion to 2WD would have taken months of development. It’s very good to see the car back; a proper GT car in every sense. Mike Quaife will drive in most of the Privilege events with Philip Hopkins, Simon Duerden standing in for the Quaife boss at some rounds later in the season.
