TotalMotorSport hasn’t yet done justice to the prospect of the Callaway C12-R joining the ALMS, but perhaps we can correct that now.
Most readers will know that the car will be campaigned by Aspen Knolls Racing, replacing their 911 GT3R from last year. Team owner Bob Mazzuoccola will share driving duties with Shane Lewis, but Vic Rice has now confirmed that he will be on the driving strength too. He told John Brooks that “I'm pleased to announce that I've been picked to be Shane Lewis' co-driver. Bob and I have had extensive discussions about the program over the past several months and Shane and I have been friends and team-mates over the years.”
The image above is taken from the Culture Store site link “The Callaway guys are top shelf and have no doubt done their homework,” said Vic Rice. The car will make its debut at Texas.
The GT class therefore sees the prospect of Porsche and BMW taking on Callaway and the Owen Trinkler Corvette.
"Every element of the C12-R’s genetic code was programmed for competition," said Reeves Callaway, founder and president of Callaway Companies. "Like every Callaway car, the C-12R’s ultra-competitive race track character is enhanced by its impeccable on-the-street manners, a trait that has always been the hallmark of our design and engineering philosophy."
The C12-R was developed by Callaway Competition in Leingarten, Germany. If looks are anything to go by……..
