16 cars formed the field at the A1-Ring for the two penultimate rpunds of the SCC2000. Both heats were won by Marcel Steiner in the white/red/blue Martini MK77-BMW, and he regained the lead in the points of the overall standings. But it is only a margin of one point, which now seperates him from his strongest opponent Emanuel Pedrazza, who managed to score two second places in each race. So the winner of the last round will be the champion.
Heat 1 took place on a dry track. Steiner won this in a superior way, keeping Pedrazza well in the distance. Third placed Alexander Seibold was also never in danger of losing his place.
More tricky conditions on Sunday, as shortly before the start drizzle appeared on the track, which became heavy rain later, but the whole field showed its discipline, with only one driver not finishing. Steiner again was so dominant, that he even appeared for a stop&go in the pit-lane, (although the marshals wanted someone else!) but finished with a 50s margin on Pedrazza, who recovered from an early spin to fight back from 7th to 2nd. Third was PRC-Pilot Andreas Tandl.
In Division 2 PRC-Driver Ralf Baumann secured his chances as title-contender with two wins. Remarkable was the debut of 17year old Victoria Schneider, who gained a 2nd place with a fine drive in the first heat. Next year she plans to do the whole season of the SCC. Really an addition to the field!
The last round in Hockenheim on October the 21st will see all the decisions in this SCC-season. |
