An ELMS spokesman has indicated that the entry for Donington in April (the Easter weekend) should be very promising. He revealed that, “we expect the majority of American teams to enter, plus at least the two privateer Panoz Roadsters (the first of the Westward Racing cars seen testing last weekend, above) and the Johansson Audi.”
Panoz Motor Sports have already suggested that the factory LMP07s will run at Donington, while it seems that there is a good chance that the works Audis will make an appearance too. They could be joined by two, brand new, LMP 675 cars, plus the almost definite appearance of the ROC-VWs.
It’s still early days for the new series, and with entry forms not due to be returned until the end of March, it may be some weeks before we can be sure that the ELMS gets off to a flying start – but it does look that way at this stage. The prospect of a five race European season does have considerable appeal to UK-based GT teams, which should swell the numbers even more.
