Richard Dean |
In The Westward Panoz |

“I’m in for Texas,” confirmed Richard Dean this morning. He has been hoping to secure a seat in a Westward Panoz ever since it seemed likely that a drive in a Skea Porsche for 2001 wouldn’t happen. A permanent role for the year hasn’t yet been agreed, but he’s in for the first race of the ALMS.
“It’s quite a turnaround for me. This time last year, I wasn’t driving in the ALMS at all, then a Skea drive came up for Laguna Seca. Now I’m in a Prototype.”
He tested the Panoz at the ALMS Spring Training a week ago, and was suitably impressed. “The car is so well built – there’s been no expense spared there. Atlanta is a fairly daunting circuit, but with that much downforce, the car points, turns, brakes and stops much like the F3000 cars I’ve been used to. I really had to unlearn Road Atlanta from my GT3 experience, then learn it all over again.”
His partner at Texas will be Jay Cochran.
