The Hump |
Nearly Finished |

David Legangneux’s photograph shows the scene along Les Hunaudieres last Thursday. He reports that the new bitumen has just been laid, but without any white markings yet. The top of the new hump is noticeably lower than the old one, but it could have been worse. When you look at it from Mulsanne corner (as in the view above), it still looks like a hump. What’s really missing are the trees on the right side. “That's what is really boring me, more than the real height of the hump. Without these trees on one side, this place now looks relatively flat.”
David expresses his surprise that the “unuseful” (perfectly explained, David) removal of 1.2 metres from the height of the Hump has cost 14 million French Francs, all for what? Let’s hope there is a perceptible benefit in safety terms.
