Panoz Changes |
For Texas And Beyond |
|
Only one of the three Panoz cars at the Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas will be the new LMP07 model. David Brabham and Jan Magnussen will drive the new car, while new signing Gualter Salles and former test driver Klaus Graf will be in a 2000 model Roadster.
Panoz Motor Sports explain that this will give more time to fully prepare two LMP07s for Sebring. The new car is currently undergoing a rapid development programme.
As already revealed here, the third car will be driven by Jay Cochran and Richard Dean; this is a third works entry for this race, not actually a Westward Group entry.
Personnel changes at Panoz Motor Sports are numerous. LMP07 designer Andy Thorby has left the company and will be pursuing other projects in the UK, rather than move to Atlanta. His services are already in demand from two possible Prototype projects.
Brian Willis takes over the role of Technical Director, moving across from his post in charge of the Panoz Trans Am car. Willis is widely experienced in Prototype and Champ Car racing. He will work ‘alongside’ Bob Bell, who is the new Senior Design Engineer responsible for the ongoing development of the LMP07. Bell will be based at G-Force, at Fontwell in Sussex, UK.
Chris Gorne assumes the position of Senior Development Engineer, while the #50 and #51 entries will have Buddy Fey (Senior Race Engineer) and Rick Mayer responsible for engineering them.
Sirish Vissa and David Newall take up the posts of Customer Liaison Engineer and Operations Manager respectively.
